ELSIE LINCOLN BENEDICT
SCOPE OF HER LECTURES Elsie Lincoln Benedict, called by magazine writers “the best-known lecturer in the world,” who will open a series of free lectures at the Town Hall concert chamber on Tuesday evening, May 13, said today: “My work is to bring and show to ambitious men and women the practical application to our everyday human problems the latest authentic discoveries of science and reseaTch. “I am not a preacher, but a teacher. What I am bringing is for every person, regardless of his religion, and it is as usable by those of one religious belief as another, and equally applicable to those who profess no belief.” “It has always been the policy of the International Opportunity League to refrain from mixing politics or religion with the broad, human messages which it carries to all wideawake people everywhere. The desire for selffulfilment, for better health, longer life, financial freedom, and friendship are universal. It i_s these aspirations which the International Opportunity League has helped tens of thousands of men and women to realise, and for which I am in Auckland. I believe* everyone will agree with me that this order is sufficiently large without trespassing upon the domain of the ministers, doctors, politicians, or school teachers.” All of Mrs. Benedict’s lectures at the Town Hall are free to the public.
