VICTORIA, DEVONPORT

Maurice Chevalier’s great picture, “The Love Parade,” is now at the Victoria Theatre, Devonport. The story deals with the career of Count Alfred, a foreign ambassador at Paris, whose numerous and not always discreet love affairs cause him to be recalled by his queen. On arrival at the palace, he falls in love with the young queen, and ultimately marries her, becoming prince consort. This does not satisfy him, and he resents the tyrranical attitude adopted by his royal wife. By special decree he is declared king, and the film shows him a happy, if incongruous monarch. The shorter films include many features of interest.
