PARISHIONERS’ MEETING
ST. ANDREWS. CAMBRIDGE From Our Own Correspondent CAMBRIDGE. Thursday. The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Andrew’s Church was held last evening. The report and balance sheet showed that the past year had been a very successful one. The Ven. Archdeacon Gordon Bell presided. Mr. E. B. Cox was appointed vicar’s warden, and Mr. J. Cowley was reelected people’s warden. I There were 13 nominations for the j vestry, a poll resulting in the election | of the following: Messrs. H. A. Wat- ' kins, E. R. Watters, E. Kingsford, H. ! Alan Bell, A. D. Sayers, W. Sands, 11. iC. Wallace, A. Pearce, H. Head, T j Dix. It was unanimously resolved to erect a new vicarage, and to open a fund j with that object in view. The opinion j was expressed, however, that it was : advisable to concentrate first on the I erection of the proposed parish hall, j toward which a substantial sum is in I hand, and to proceed with a nev; i vicarage Afterward. ! The meeting resolved to recommend t the vestry to increase the vicar’s ’ stipend by £ 40, provided Tamahero : and Ohaupo agreed to increase their assessments by £lO per annum each.
