His Excellency the Governor-General, To*d Bledisloe, as Ariki of the AuckrA Savage Club, has consented to t _j l - e the chair at the club’s opening korero on Saturday evening. His Exreljency will be the guest of honour at a luncheon to be given by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce on May 15. He will not deliver an address, as was formerly stated.

Squadron-Leader L. M. Isitt, officer commanding the Hobsonville Air Base, arrived from Wellington by the express today.

Mr. Walter Massey, president df the Auckland Agriculaural and Pastoral Association, was a passenger from South by the Limited today.

Mr. F. Campbell was unanimously reelected chairman of the Council of the Zealand Football Association in Wellington. Mr. B. L. Salmon was elected vice-chairman.

M. le Comte de Galembert who has ■been Chief Administrator of the French Civil Service in Indo-China, is at present in the Rotorua district. He is accompanied by his wife and stepdaughter, and will visit Auckland.

Commissioner W. McKenzie, formerly Salvation Army Officer in Christchurch and at one time editor of the ‘War Cry,” has been appointed to take charge of the Army work in Australia. Until recently he was in charge of the work in China.
