EMPRESS, NEWTON
“The Wonder of Woman” is the title of the splendid dramatic talkie that is thrilling the audiences at the Empress Theatre, Newton.
The story is a powerful one. and is enacted by an outstanding cast, of which Lewis Stone, Peggy Woods, and Leila Hyams are the leading players. A splendid collection of shorter talkie items completes the programme.
Filming has started on “The Border Legion,” Richard Arlen’s second alltalking Western for Paramount. Fay Fray is cast in the feminine lead. Others in the supporting cast are Jack Holt and Eugene Pallette. Dorothy Arzner, Paramount’s only woman director, is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
Marion Davies’s next starring vehicle will be an adaptation of the Ziegfeld musical success, “Rosalie.” Gene Markey, New York newspaperman and writer who prepared Miss Davies’s present vehicle, “The Gay Nineties,” will also adapt “Rosalie” to the screen.
