THE CASH RIDERS
Owing to the recent fatality a new course had to be obtained, and with this object in view, a number of riders and officials of the Auckland Cycle Club last week-end set out to find a circuit suitable to the club’s requirements. After a thorough investigation had been made the following course was decided upon:—Start at Favona Hall, along Robinson Road, then Buckland Road, through Papatoetoe. turning at Papatoetoe School, thence to Otahuhu, turning at monument into Middlemore Road, which leads into Favona Road, at finish. The distance round is 95 miles, with lefthand turnings all the way, excepting Middlemore Road.
The track selected is an ideal one. The road is concrete or tar-sealed all the way excepting for a patch of nb<-.it 150 yards. As twice round this circuit will make the popular 19 miles, some good times should be recorded. The riders will not "<■
troubled with a great deal of traffic during the running of a race. This was the main factor the committee had in mind when the final selection was made.
Cyclists will be pleased to hear that Bill Pratney is now well on the road to recovery. All members are asked to visit the above member as lie findv life very dull during his forced spell. Pratney will not don his racing gea r at least for this season.
S. Gooch will bo on hand this weekend to compete in the club’s road race.
It will be remembered that this diminutive pedaller annexed fastest time honours from the provincial champion. J. Lindop, in the 1928 llamiltonAuckland road race, which was won by X. Bellringer. With the club now getting such a number of new
J. Lindop members, some good finishes should be witnessed. * * *
The race on Saturday will commence at Favona Road at 2.30 p.m. The distance will be twice over the circuit All are asked to be on hand early to get instructions in regard to future races.
