ELLERSLIE NOTES

THIS MORNING’S JUMPING Training at Ellerslie lately has been of an uninteresting nature, nnd but for the efforts of jumpers the work has been dull. Kairuri, who is trained at Otahnljii by W. H. Patterson, put in an appearance at Ellerslie this morning for purposes of jumping a couple of poqy hurdles. He was ridden by J. Burgess, and after clapping the first bartf negotiated the other fence nicely. When he shows proficiency it is intended to race the Surveyor gelding in hurdle events, and to predict a successful career for him is only in keeping with the promise shown. Respirator (E. Stanway) jumped two hurdles satisfactorily, but ther% was no pace on. J. Chisholm’s pair. the hunter Soami (Lily) and Sprirg Abbey (Burgess) were paired over pony hurdle* the former shaping safely, while Spring Abbey was slow, but impruvir* at every fence. J- Burgess, who had the winning mount on Kauri Park on the second day at Avondale, will again be associ* ated with the Ellerslie representative in the Great Northern Hurdles. The Ellerslie owner-trainer, J. Williamson, is expected to return from Sydney next week with three horses which he purchased during the Easter sales. During his absence H. Weston has been managing a team of just over a dozen horses.
