E Spero (Labour). resulted: Sir Cyril Cobb (Con J.. .. .. 1*5.22:’. J. A. Banfield (Labour) .. .. 15.95’ An earlier message said this was the first by-election fought on the Empire free trade issue. The Conservative candidate. Sir Cyril Cobb, has made a determined effort to regain the seat, which he held through four general elections, until he was beaten by Dr. G. E. Spero i Labour), in a three-cornered contest last year. The resignation of Dr. Spero necessitated this by-election. The result of the West Fulham poll at the General Elections in June, 1929, was: Dr. G. E. Spero (LubJ .. 16,190 Sir Cyril Cobb (Con.) .. 13,979 A G. Gale (Lib.) 5,920 Majority .... ...... 2,211
