Stevens, stated the Government has definitely decided to repeal the 44hour week by legislation. He also foreshadowed sweeping legislation to restore industrial financial stability. Thus the reduction will apply almost certainly to the police force and definitely to employees of the Harbour Trust, the Government Savings Bank, Main Roads Board, and Water and Sewerage Board. Judges are exempted but many other sub-Governmental bodies are likely to be affected. SAVING OF £50,000 FEDERAL DEFENCE CUT Reed. 1.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Today. It is understood the Defence economy proposals include the transfer of the naval college from Jervis Bay to Flinders Depot, at "which all the naval training will be concentrated. It is estimated that over £50,000 a year will be saved. •
