HEN PHEASANT SHOT
RANGER CONFISCATES GUNS SPORTSMEN’S UNLUCKY DAY From Our Own Correspondent; MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. To be found by a ranger with a hen pheafeaut in theii - possession was the embarrassing experience of two Morrinsville sportsmen, who visited the Tahuna district on the opening day of the season. It is said that one of them shot a duck with his first barrel and with his second a bird which proved to be a hen pheasant. They decided to take it home, but fate willed it that they should be accosted by a ranger, who examined their bags and found the incriminating bird. He confiscated their guns and took their names. It was unfortunate for these men that several rangers had escorted the Governor-General. Lord Bledisloe, on a shooting trip to Tahuna that day, and took the opportunity of inspecting the bags of all sportsmen they met.
