WOMEN’S HOCKEY

COMMENCEMENT OF MATCHES AUCKLAND EXECUTIVE MEETS Miss P. IT. Dawson presided over a large attendance of executive members and sub-association delegates representing Piako, 'NVaihi, Waipa and Whangarei at a meeting of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association. In all 31 entries were received for Auckland competitions, 19 in the business girls’ section and 12 in the collegiate section. These entries were graded as follow, the junior grade being divided into two separate sections:

Senior Oracle. —Mount Eden. Clcve don. Kiwi. Papatoetoe, Somerville Wesley. Y.W.C.A..

Junior Grade.—A Section: Clevedon. Manurewa, Ng;iro. Papakura, Technical A. Wesley A. B Section: Mount Eden. Xgataringa, Somerville. Technical B. Wesley B, Y.W.C.A. Twelve entries exist in the collegiate section, but these will not be dealt with until later, as the collegiate teams will not be commencing their championship games until after the vacation ends. This is an increase of live teams on last year's numbers, despite tiie Amwa Club’s absence. It was decided that two rounds of games be played in all three sections —senior, junior A and junior B. In the junior grade, at the termination of the two rounds, the leading team in each section will meet to play off for the championship. The Clevedon Club was given permission to register navy skirt, whitesweater. black and saxe blue quartered cap and black and saxe blue horizontally striped tie. with black stockings as its uniform.

The resignation of Miss Z. Twining, who has been treasurer of the association for many years, was accepted with regret. Owing to pressure of other business. Miss Twining was forced to tender her resignation. Miss Klva R. Burton is to be approached to accept the vacant post. Mrs. Mason and Misses P. 11. Dawson and A. Twiname were elected ground committee members for the season.

The Whangarei Radies’ Hockey Association was granted affiliation and the appointment of Miss O. Lowe as its delegate was confirmed.
