ALL EVIDENCE TAKEN

REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE TO SIT AT HAMILTON The sitting of the committee of inquiry set up under the Town Planning Act to fix the boundaries of the region having social and economic interests in common with the city and Port of Auckland, concluded yesterday afternoon. Tomorrow the committee will take evidence at Hamilton. The views of Whangarei residents have already been heard. When the inquiry was continued yesterday afternoon. Mr. E. V. Blake, representing the technical group of the Auckland Town Planning Association, stated that the group considered the area should extend from the northern boundary of Rodney County to some distance within the Raglan County. The principles of regional planning were supported by Mr. E. H. Potter, on behalf of the Mount Eden Borough Council, and Mr. W. J. Nicholson, for the Papatoetoe Town Board. The Henderson Tbwn Board’s representative, Mr. E. Greenslade, stated that his board realised that the scheme was in the best interests of the district. It was considered, however, that the inquiry should not have begun until the individual suburban bodies had prepared their plans, the general regional plan dovetailing the pieces into one composite scheme. This concluded the evidence heard.
