“SAFETY FIRST” LOAN
NEW ZEALAND’S £5,500,000 LONDON, Monday. The New Zealand loan of £5,500,000 was over-subscribed within a few hours. The total amount of the subscription is at present not known. The allotment letters will be dispatched tomorrow. The financial correspondent of the “Morning Post” says the success of the loan confirms the impression that there is ample money available for vestment, though the demand at present is limited to securities of the “safety first” order. Among these New Zealand’s stocks, by their reputation, deserve a high place. The letter of allotment of the New Zealand loan will not be issued till May 17. Applications were more numerous and the total subscription larger than was anticipated when the list closed.
