PLAY AT PALMERSTON Press Association PALMERSTON N., Today. The Tlokowhitu links today were the venue of the first open autumn foursomes to be condLicted by the Ladies’ Golf Union in the Dominion. The entries number 74, which is stated to be exceptionally pleasing. Primarily the introduction of men into tno autumn foursomes is due to the foresight of Mrs. Guy Williams, of Mastertou, president of the Ladies’ Golf Union, who is the donor of two handsome silver cup as trophies, replicas of which, to be presented to the winners, have beep presented by Miss E. Culling* of Auckland. The principle of the competition is to encourage team spirit. Results: —•

First round. Miss E. Culling (Auckland) and Miss D. Chrystal (Christchurch) beat Mrs. Thompson (Marumaru) and partner, 7 and Ls. Mrs. J. P. Innes and Miss N. Innes (Manawatu) beat Miss E. Smith and Miss S Baldwin (Masterton), 6 and 5; Miss S. Watson (Manawatu) and Miss E. Bell (Wellington) beat Mrs. D. Bergh and Miss Petrie (Bulls), 8 and 7. There were many byes in the first round. The second round is being played this afternoon.
