BOOTS AND FISTS FLY

‘KILL BOSSES’ ARMY,” SAYS BRISBANE UNEMPLOYED POLICE DISPEL RIOTERS BRISBANE, Monday. A pitched battle in the streets of Brisbane today ended in tbe arrest of several unemployed. During the clashes the police made many baton charges. Boots and fists were used by the rioters. The occasion was a Labour Day procession. The unemployed formed themselves into a separate camp and became disorderly. They carried banners on which were offensive inscriptions and shouted: “Kill the bosses' army.” The leaders of the unemployed also delivered fiery addresses in the vicinity of the Trades Hall. The police tried to disperse the mob and a melee ensued. Reinforcements of police arrived and arrested a number of the demonstrators amid hooting and jeering. Nobody was seriously hurt.
