MAORI ADMITS THEFT The theft of an overcoat and a suit led to a sentence of imprisonment for a month against a Maori labourer, Waawe Tarau Manene, who appeared in the Police Court this morning. Manene, alias Piriwawa Manene and Brown, and aged 29. was charged with stealing the garments, which were valued at £9 7s 6d, from James Clayton.

Sub-Inspector Shanahan said Clayton missed tile garments from the house where Manene and he were staying. It was found that accused pawned the gcods, and he subsequently admitted the offence. There were previous. convictions.
