POWER FOR SCHOOL
LOWER RATES GRANTED The Waitemata Electric-Power Board yesterday allowed a reduc - tion in charges on power supplied to the St. Peter’s Rural Training Scho at Xorthcote. An application had been receiv- d from the Very Rev. Dean van Dijk. who is in charge of the Catholic Mao: Mission in this province. He urged that, since the school is an institution of a philanthropic and charitable nature, giving Maori boys an opportunity of receiving a free training in useful trades, easier terms should b“ granted. Last year the school paid .£ S 8 nett to tl board. On the motion of Mr. O. Marks, charge for cooking on the domestv scale was agreed to. This rebate i< similar to that offered the Brett Memorial Home some time ago, but which was not accepted. It will result in a saving of about .C 22 net g, year.
