PARISHIONERS’ MEETING
The annual parishioners’ meeting of the Holy Trinity Church, Devonport, was held in the Parish .Hall last evening, when the annual report, statement of accounts and balance sheet were duly adopted. There was a good attendance of parishioners and the chairman. the Rev. H. B. Wingfield. vicar of the parish, was able to announce that for the first time for many years the overdraft had been wiped out and Devonport is now in the position of having a credit balance at the bank. A budget for the coming year was drawn up for the information of the parishioners, with the purpose of showing the objective to be reached during the next financial year. The work of the vicar, together with Mrs. Wingfield, was eulogised by the parishioners, who pointed out that, it was due largely to their untiring efforts that the affairs of the church in Devonport were in such a good state. Owing to more nominations being received than vacancies existing, a ballot was held to elect the vestry. The following officers were appointed: Vicar's warden, Mr. R. E. Hunt: people’s warden, Mr. Beere: vestrymen, Messrs. Moody. Smallwood, Hamlin, Grey. Irving, Lyon, Rignall: auditor, Mr. Goudie. The meeting took the form of a family social evening, refreshments being provided by the members of the choir* and suitable musical items were given, ~ -
