WEIGHT OF BREAD
REINSTATEMENT OF OLD REGULATION DEPARTMENT’S DECISION An announcement made by Auckland office of the Department 0 * Health states that the agreement mad* by the department with the Baker*Federation in 1924 concerning th? weight of special types of loaves has been terminated. The effect of this is that the weight of Jill bread is governed entirely the provision of Section 26 of the Food and Drugs Act, 1908. The section is as follows: “Every person commits an oflenc*who sells any bread, the weight which at the time of sale is less than the seller represents it to be, or is than the weight which the buyer demands. Every person who sells any loaf weighing at the time of sale than four pounds, but more than three pounds, shall be deemed to represent that it weighs four pounds unless he states its true weight to the buyer at the time of sale. “Every person who sells any loaf weighing at the time of sale less than two pounds, but more than one pound, shall be deemed to represent that fc weighs two pounds unless he states ita true weight to the buyer at the time«f sale/*
