HOBSON SPORTSMEN
MEETING AT DARGAVILLE From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Thursday. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, M.P., presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Hobson Acclimatisation Society on Tuesday evening. The question was raised by Mr. Clift'e of the wholesale taking of toheroas by outsiders. Mr. Dargaville said the council was fully alive to the danger which existed and he had for many years been endeavouring to have the Government do something. Mr. Hefferd, the Government Fishing Expert, had been in the district some time ago and had promised a report on the subject, but it had not come to hand. A resolution was passed that the council be urged to take the question up with the Government, with a view to having the taking of toheroas controlled. Officers elected were:—President, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates; vice-president, Mr. Geo. Marchant; auditor, Mr. A. L. Billing; members of council, Messrs. A. Anderson, P. Hayward and N. Robinson were elected to fill the vacancies. Mr. F. J. Dargaville was subsequently re-elected chairman of the council.
