ART ON EXHIBITION

MANY LEADING WORKS DISPLAY IN AUCKLAND Original etchings, pen and pencil drawings, water colours and lithographs by leading English and Continental artists are now on display at the South British Insurance Company’s buildings in Swanson Street. This collection includes some of the best specimens of work by Xorman Lindsay’, the Australian artist, and remarkable water colours by John C. Goodchild, also from Australia. The latter shows a fondness for reproducing scenes from his home country, two views of Sydney, one a quiet part of the harbour and th« other a group of old houses, being among the collection. Mr. Goodchild is a comparatively young artist. He studied in England, returning to Australia after the war. In 1926 he made an extensive tour of the Continent, the art he examined there making a decided impression on his more recent works. About 20 of his water colours are on display and there are also a number of the etchings for which he has earned a great reputation. Among the famous artists who have contributed selected works to this collection are James McXeil Whistler. E. S. Lumsden, R.A.. W. P. Robins, R.A, and L>. I. Smart, R.A. The exhibition v’ill be open to th* public daily for a fortnight.
