BADMINTON CLUBS
MANGERE OPENING The Mangere Badminton Club opened its season on Thursday evening, when a large gathering of members and representatives of other clubs were present. Mr. S. W. House, vice-president, wished the club success for the ensuing year and expressed the hope that this season would result in some keen competition among the many clubs now participating in the game in and around Auckland! Play was commenced for the season by Mrs. Owen Self, wife of the club’s president, hitting the first shuttlecock over the net.
MORRINSVILLE CLUB From Our Otcn Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Today. The following ladder games were played this week: Singles.—X. Bryant beat J. Hawkins. 15—S; C. Mallett beat K. Hopkins. 17—16; J. Pauli beat J. Hopkins, 15—10; B. Watson beat N. Gould, 15—6. Doubles.—J. Hopkins and Miss D. Watts beat H. Pirritt and Miss Chapman, 15—8; N. Bryant and Miss Bradley beat J. Hawkins and Miss Ryan. 15— J. Brown and Miss Hammond beat A. Thomas and N. Watts, 15—7; C. Mallett and Miss Johnston beat J. Pauli and Miss Hawkins, 18 —14.
