THAMES TROUBLES
ASSOCIATION GETS BUSY HANDICAPPER’S POSITION A 1: the recent meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Board, presided over by Mr. J. H. Williams, several complications arising out of the recent Thames fixture were brought forward for discussion. Tho handicapping of Warplane and Nella Dillon in the Kopu Handicap, the action of tho stipendiary steward with regard to the latter’s running in the Kerepeehi Handicap and the Lord Haldane disqualification (all of which were ful(y dealt with by “Abaydos” after the meeting), were the principal subjects considered. As previously announced, and generally anticipated, owner R. Saunders won his appeal against the disqualification of Lord Haldane in the President’s Handicap and the club was asked to pay over the stake to Saunders, together with his appeal expenses Handicapping Question After discussing the complaints on this score made by Mrs. Sweetapplc (owner of Warplane) and Mr. T. M Robertson (owner of Nella Dillon), during which some pert remarks were made by members relative to the improvement of the system of penalties, which would allow handieappers no latitude, it was decided to have copies of the letters written by Mrs. Sweetapple, Mr. Robinson and Mr. Paul, handicapper, circulated among members, and that the question be considered at the next meeting of the board. From the general tone of the discussion, it would appear that the handicapper's reply to the complaints was not well received. The board, after reviewing the position as placed before it by Mr. Robertson, in connection with the Nella Dillon incident after the two-mile race, decided to refer the question to the stipendiary stewards’ committee peter McKinney for sale The well-known trotter Peter McKinney, ’by Petereta—Annie Bells McKinney, who has won several good stakes this season is advertised for sale.
