LOSS OF VALLEY

TWO-YEAR-OLD DESTROYED A fall in the Nursey Handicap at Avondale on Wednesday has resulted in the two-year-old Valley being destroyed. The youngster received a splintered jawbone when he fell, and acting on veterinary advice it was deemed advisable to destroy him. Valley raced in the colours of Mr. A. McDonald, a Masterton sportsman, and was trained at Takanini by J. T. Jamieson. At the Sydney yearling sales last year Mr. McDonald was obliged to go to 850gns. to secure the gelding. He was a son of Valais, from Bronacre, and possessed of a. fine turn of speed his career was invested with plenty of promise. It is an unfortunate loss for the owner.
