SEA SERVICE ENDS
NEW PLYMOUTH TO ONEHUNGA NGAPUHFS LAST TRIP From Our Own Correspondent NEW PLYMOUTH, Today. The steamer Ngapuhi made its last trip from New Plymouth to Onehunga last night, thus closing the passenger service between the two ports. There was a great crowd on the wharf to see the vessel leave and the syrens of the ships in port and the railway and Harbour Board whistles sounded until the Ngapuhi was some distance away. The ending of the service will cause, it is estimated, a loss in revenue to the New Plymouth Harbour Board of £6OO a year, partly because of the loss of the passenger toll which was charged and because of the smaller tonnage of the Hauturu which is replacing the Ngapuhi.
