HANDICAPS AROUSE INTEREST WITH the flat-racing- season now a thing of the past, attention is directed -to the prospects for the jumping season, which opens in the North Island at Hawera next week, witlP Wanganui the following week and the Great Northern meeting a fortnight later. The appearance of Mr. F. J. McManemin’s adjustments for the big Ellerslie treble stimulates interest in these big races, which are probably the modicum of more double betting in the Dominion than any other contests. And one need not whisper that fact.
