"SUMMON PARLIAMENT”
DEMAND BY UNEMPLOYED WIRE TO PRIME MINISTER Another mass meeting of the unemployed, which was attended by between 400 and 500 men, was held at St. Matthew’s Hall this morning. Politics or politicians are not allowed to intrude in the new organisation. The following telegram was dispatched to the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, after the meeting: This mass meeting of the unem ployed of the City of Auckland held in St. Matthew’s Hall, demands that you summon Parliament at once to obtain for us work or maintenance at a living rate. We also demand hat the workers employed at the Works camps be supplied vith goods at town prices through the medium of Government stores. (Signed) J. Semple, chairman; J. O’Carroll. secretary. The meeting this morning also tedded to hold a procession through the City on Monday.
