WORKED ON SUNDAY
LAND SALESMAN FINED Standing on the Surfdale Wharf on Sunday, March 8, Alfred Glemett handed out circulars advertising sections of land to steamer excursionists as they landed. Clemett, in the Police Court today * was fined £1 by Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M.. for working at his calling as a land agent and salesman on Sunday. A constable, who stood by Clemett while handing out the handbills, said lie had asked the man whether he was selling the sections, and Clemett told he could show him over the land. Some of the passengers were annoyed at being stopped to receive the circulars, said the constable. Mr. Clarke stated that the sections belonged to a manufacturing firm, the head of which gave Clemett a job while be was out of work, to clean up the sections, and to endeavour to induce people to buy.
