THE REV. LIONEL FLETCHER
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS’ WORK The services at the Beresford Street Congregational Church on Sunday will mark the sixth anniversary of the coming of the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher to the pastorate of the church, and the 25th year of Mr. Fletcher’s entrance into the ministry. Before his acceptance of the call to Beresford Street, Mr. Fletcher held two pastorates in New South Wales, and one at Port Adelaide, South Australia. He was then called to the Wood Street Church, Cardiff, Great Britain, the largest Congregational Church in the British Empire, where he laboured tor seven years. After 20 months of special work through Great Britain and America, Mr. Fletcher came to Auckland, and during his ministry here has built up the church at Beresford Street until it is now one of the leading churches in this city and one of the foremost Congregational churches in Australia and New Zealand. That Mr. Fletcher’s ministry continues to be effective is evidenced by the large congregations to which he ministers every Sunday. He has not, however, confined his efforts to his own church and city, but has devoted much time to helping the work of. other churches and denominations throughout the Dominion. Early in July he svill leave Auckland for America and Great Britain, where ho will carry through a special series of meetings in fulfilment of a promise.
