DISPUTE AT HOWICK

TWO BOARD MEMBERS RESIGN Following the Howick Town Hoard’s decision to allow Mr. V. D. Bagnall to hold the dual positions of town clerk and clerk of works, in connection with the contracts in the district arranged recently, two members of the board, Mr. W. Cooper and Mr. H. H. Bush ell, resigned their seats last evening. Both resignations were accepted. The board, at a meeting on April 17, by four votes to three, refused to allow Mr. Bagnall to act in the dual capacity. but at a meeting a week later the decision was reversed. The members who opposed, the reversal of the first decision were Messrs. Cooper. Bush ell and D. Strong.
