BRADMAN BRILLIANT
HITS UP 236 IN GAME WITH WORCESTER AUSTRALIANS DECLARE United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10.50 a.m. LONDON, Thurs. A brilliant double century by Bradman was a feature of the second day’s play in the match between the Australians and Worcestershire. His effort amazed the spectators, and he treated the bowlers with scant respect, pasting the ball to all parts of the field. He reached a century in 120 minutes. Woodfull, upon obtaining his 100, became reckless and attacked the weak bowling. He went out in attempting a big hit. He and Bradman out on 200 in just over two hours. The New South Wales colt, assisted by Richardson, McCabe and A Beckett, made his total 200 after 255 minutes at the crease. He, like Woodfull, went out in attempting to lift the ball out of the ground. Bradman batted for 276 minutes and hit 28 fours, giving only one chance, which was after he had passed his second 100. BRIGHT BATTING His score is the highest ever compiled against Worcester. He drove with great power, and presented an impregnable defence. Bradman made no attempt to force the pace until he got a century. He and Woodfull then opened their shoulders, even to Root, who was keeping a good length. Woodfull threw away his wicket trying to life an easy straight ball from Brook. He really hit at every ball after his cenutry. His innings occupied 190 minutes and included 11 fours and one fiver.
