TAKAPUNA COUNCIL
FILLING OF VACANT SEAT Mr. J. Ernest Close, a former member of the Takapuna Borough Council, has been approached to allow himself to be nominated as a candidate for the vacancy on the council caused by the resignation of Mr. J. W. Hayden. Mr. Close says that he is not yet able to give a definite answer to the request, but will do so in a day or two.
For two years Air. Close held the position of chairman of the works committee, the position from which Mr. Hayden has just retired. Air. M. L. Wilkins, also a former members of the council, has been requested to seek election, but he has declined to acede to the request.
