PERSONAL. —Mr. W. F. Scott has relieved Mr. F. McLellan as second officer on the Breeze. Mr. J. Glasgow, second mate on the Himatangi, has signed off, and Mr. W. R. Scantlebury has joined the vessel as mate. In consequence of the illness of Mr. ,T. Xaismith, chief engineer of the Tairoa, who was left ashore in hospital at Balboa, several changes have been made in the engineering staffs of Shaw, Savill arjd Albion steamers. Mr. W. Moore, chief engineer of the Kia Ora, has transferred to the Tairoa and Mr. O. S. Walker, second engineer of the Maimoa, has joined the Kia Ora as acting chief engineer. Mr. O. Chartres, acting chief engineer of the Tairoa, has joined the Maimoa as second engineer. Captain W. "VV. Hender, late of the Karepo, is to take command of the YYaiotapu, in succession to Captain D. Todd, who is retiring from the Union Company’s i service. • PAPANUI’S MOVEMENTS. —The Federal Company advises that the Papanui is scheduled to sail from New York on May 24 for Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Sydney and Melbourne. ULI MAROA’S TRANSHIPMENTS.— The Ulimaroa (Huddart, Parker Co.), which arrived at Wellington from Sydney on Monday morning, brought transhipments ex the following vessels: —Sierra, Goulburn, Zealandia, Mooltan, Canberra, Taiping. ULIMAROA FOR SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parker Company's intercolonial passenger steamer Ulimaroa, now at Wellington, is scheduled to leave there at noon on Friday for Sydney with passengers, mails and cargo. The vessel is due at Sydney on Tuesday morning. ANTONIO LEAVES NAURU.—Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited, has received advice that the steamer Antonio was dispatched from Nauru Island last Sunday with a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at Xew Plymouth and Wanganui. She is due at Xew Plymouth about May 10. QUERCUS CLEARS NEW YORK.Running under the auspices of the Coqft- \ monwealth and Dominion Line, rj)* steamer Quercus is reported to hasve sailed from Xew York on Monday with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellingipn, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland about June 2. MELBOURNE PASSENGER SERVICE. —The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer lViaheno reached Bluff from Melbourne on Monday afternoon, en route to Dunedin, Lyttelton and Wellington. She is due at Wellington on Friday and is to sail for Melbourne, via Bluff, on Saturday. RUAHINE SAILS 6.30 A.M. —The Xew Zealand Shipping Company advises that its liner Ruanine, at present at Prince s Wharf discharging the local portion of her general cargo from London, is to be dispatched at 6.30 a.m. tomorrow for Wellington and Nelson to complete unloading. THE MATAROA. —According to further wireless advice received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company from its liner Mataroa, she is due at Wellington this evening from London and Southampton. The vessel has passengers for New Zealand and a cargo of general merchandise for discharge at Wellington and Auckland. L. D. Nathan, Ltd., will act as her Auckland agent. HUNTINGDON SAILS 8 P.M. —Now at Queen’s Wharf putting out the local part of her general cargo from A\ est t .oast ■United Kingdom ports, the Federal Steam Navigation Company's steamer Huntingdon is scheduled to sail at eight o'clock this evening for Xapier. A\ ell ngton, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers to complete discharge. Her local agent is me Xew Zealand Shipping Company.

WAIPA H I DUE TOMORROW— The Union Company's Island fruit steamer Waipahi lias sent radio advice that she expects to reach Auckland from Apia (Samoa) at noon tomorrow. The vessel will berth at Prince’s Wharf to discharge her fruit cargo and to load general cargo for the Cook Islands. She is announced to sail on Friday for Rarotonga, Aitutaki and Mangaia.

CANADIAN TRANSPORTER TO COMPLETE. —The Canadian National Steamships local office advises that the Canadian Transporter left Dunedin at 5 p.m. yesterday for Wellington and Auckland to complete loading cargo for Xew York, Boston and Montreal. She is due here on Monday morning, and it is hoped to dispatch her finally on Monday evening.

PORT HOBART POSTPONED. —Owing to delay in loading operations yesterday occasioned by the wet weather, the departure of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Hobart for Xew York, Boston, Halifax and London. has been postponed to noon tomorrow. Besides a large quantity of general cargo, the Port Hobart is taking a number of passengers. She proceeds via the Panama Canal. Heather Roberton. Ltd., is the agent.

CITY OF WINNIPEG SAILS 3 P.M. — After having been delayed in port through yesterday's wet weather, the A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer City of Winnipeg, at present at Prince’s Wharf unloading the local consignment of lier general cargo from Xew York, is to sail at 3 o'clock this afternoon for Xapier. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to put out the remainder. Her Auckland agent is the Xew Zealand Shipping Company.

NEW PACIFIC CARGO SERVICE. — The North Pacific-Australian Line has arranged to run a monthly cargo service from Pacific ports to Xew Zealand, according to advice received in Auckland. The company is already running a service from Pacific Coast ports to Australia, and the vessels in future are to call at Auckland, en route to Australia. The Norwegian motor-ship Dagfred, 4,400 tons, has been loading at Pacific Coast ports, and is scheduled to clear Los Angeles today for Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne. She is the first vessel in the new service and is expected to reach Auckland about May 25. Dalgety and Company will act as Auckland agents for the company.
