ROAD-RACING ACCIDENT

CONTROL OF CONTESTS “On account of the increase in traffic on the Mangere Road, cycleracing is becoming dangerous,” said Mr. F. M. Waters, chairman of the Manukau County Council, last evening. The question of enforcing an existing by-law, which would put a stop to road-racing in its district, will be considered at the council's next meeting. Mr. Waters say it is possible that racing will be stopped altogether or that clubs will be required to obtain a permit before holding any race. This course would prevent two clubs from racing in the same locality at the same time. William Pratney, of Manurewa, w-ho was admitted to the Auckland Hospital suffering from injuries received in the fatal cycle-racing accident at Mangere on Saturday, is said to be making satisfactory progress.
