PARACHUTE DROPS FROM 14,800 FEET TO EARTH DRIFTS SIX MILES Reed. 10.5 a.m. NEW YORK, Monday. After an. airplane climb from the Roosevelt Field of an hour and ahalf, Frances Rees, a 36-year-old parachutist, hurled herself from an airplane at an altitude of 14,800 feet, and opened one of two parachutes attached to her flying suit, making a safe landing six miles distant in 14 minutes.
