Reports received by the local Chinese authorities reveal a terrible messacre at the city of Kingscuen, North Kiangsu, on Saturday, when more than 1,000 persons were slaughtered, and a similar number captured by bandits and the city razed. Brigands, equipped with 20 machineguns, destroyed the city, driving the residents into the streets, where they were mowed down with rifles and machine-guns. Officials were captured and publicly butchered. Every establishment was looted, the bandits setting fire to the town before their departure. Troops are being dispatched to pursue the looters.
