HOCKEY BEGINS
MATCHES ON SATURDAY EIGHT SENIOR TEAMS The hockey season will begin at Remuera grounds and elsewhere on Saturday. At a meeting of the Auckland Hockey Association executive ias- - it was announced that 36 teani'had entered the various grades, an increase on last year s representation. It was decided to admit S wiervUfc St. Luke's, University A. #nivorsit’ Whippets. Mount Eden, >:*rth and Wesley to the senior competition. An effort is to be made to arrange a. midweek tourney between teams representing Training College, Navy Pacific Cable Board, Nomads and th* Auckland Grammar School, and anv other teams desiring to enter. Mr. W. Newsham was appointed «oi,. senior grade selector. Following is the draw for the ir*. round of matches:— Senior Grade.—University v. .\ortr Shore. University Whippets v. St. kakev’ Somerville v. Wesley, Mount Eden, a bye Second Grade.—Otahuhu v. St. Luke’s University Colts v. University A, Papatoetoe v. Training C'ollege. Mount Eici* v. Wesley, Somerville v. Birkenhead. Third Grade.—Somerville v. st. r.i.ke* Grammar v. University. Otahuhu % Training College. Fourth Grade.—Mount Kden v. Luke's, Mount Albert Grammar v. We*, ley, Auckland Grammar v.
