The fiual match for the Association Cup at Wembley Stadium (his after, noon was won by Woolwich Arsenal, who defeated Huddersfield by two goals to nil. There were 92,500 spectators, and the gate receipts were £23,265. King George was present, and shook hands with the members of the teams before the match, and chatted with the captains afterward. He presented the cup to Tom Parker, the Arsenal captain, who was muddy and grassstained from his exertions on the fiegd. The first man at the gates to witness the match had walked, or borrowed rides, from Huddersfield, and his side never scored. The fact that he saw the Graf Zeppelin was a meagre consolation. CROWDS LISTENED IN Hundreds of excursion trains arrived yesterday and today bringing spectators. Every one of the 92.45 S seats at Wembley Stadium had been sold long ago. and as many more could have been sold. Thousands of persons all over the country, who were unable to come to London, listened to a wireless broadcast running comment. The year's greatest football event was a clash between teams from ft»o North and the South of England, which have cost great sums in transfers. The Huddersfield Club paid £20.000 for their players. One player from the Bolton Wanderers cost the Arsenal the record fee of £IO,OOO. Huddersfield has twice won the cup. but the Arsenal has never before won. GOALIE SAFE After 12 minutes of fast and even play Alec James scored for Arsenal with an easy shot. Huddersfield had a fair share of the game, which was very fast throughout. Preedy, in goal, was very safe. He went down in the second spell Just in front of his goal, with his opponents all round him. trying to get the ball, to which he hung grimly until he could manoeuvre it behind the goal. It was then seen that he was unable to rise. When he was helped up he soon recovered, and resumed his brilliant game.
About two minutes before the end of play Lambert scored Arsenal's second goal.
