Lady Robertson and Miss Joan Robertson have returned from a visit to Whangarei. Mr. and Mrs. W. Perry, of Market Road, have returned from' a lioliday spent in Cambridge. Mr. and Mrs. Woodman, of Australia, are visiting Auckland, and are staying at Glenalvon. Mrs. F. Vere Windsor, of Epsom, who has been on a three weeks’ visit to Rotorua, has returned. Mrs. W. Russell-Wood has left Rotorua for Tirau. where she is the guest of Mrs. F. Dodson. The Rev. I. Jolly and Mrs. Jolly, of Dunedin, are on a visit to Auckland, and are staying at Arundel. Mrs. Harold Johnston, who has been staying at the Grand Hotel for several days, has returned to YVelling'ton. Mrs. F. Lomas, of AVanganui. who has been staying at the Grand Hotel, left on Saturday by motor for AA'anganui. Mrs. C. M. Bruce, of Fendalton, Christchurch, is on a visit to Auckland, and is the guest of Dr. Livesey, of Mount Albert Road.

Enjoyable Afternoon

At Home for Obstetrical Appeal Workers MRS. DAVID NATHAN ENTERTAINS In the beautiful and spacious grounds of her home, “The Hill," at Manurewa on Saturday afternoon, Mrs. David Nathan entertained the various committees who so successfully worked in the interests of the Obstetrical Endowj ment Appeal. l There were a, large number of guests present who enjoyed themselves roaming in the grounds, which were gay with autumn flowers, the native bush making a beautiful green background for the picturesque home. Afternoon tea was served on one of the wide terraces and also in the drawing-room, the tables being decorated with a profusion of golden chrysanthemums. After tea, Mrs. A."D. Campbell, the Mayoress, thanked Mrs. Nathan on behalf of those present for the opportunity she had given the members of the various committees to meet each other. Mrs. Campbell also spoke in glowing terms of the wonderful work which had been done in gaining the objective. The quota for Auckland of £7,500 was already in hand, and another £I,OOO was to come from Gisborne and £SOO from Hamilton. In regard to the generous donations received from the Auckland Savings Bank, Mrs. Campbell said it was due to the wholehearted work of Lady Robertson and Mrs. David Nathan. To receive her guests, Mrs. Nathan wore a frock of cherry red wool crepe de chine, with tiny frills forming an uneven skirt and a hat in the same shade. Miss Jacqueline Nathan was in a fawn georgette frock and a hat to tone. Mrs. Campbell wore a chocolate brown tailored coat and small brown felt hat. Mrs. C. E. Macguire, assist-ant-honorary secretary, was frocked in powder blue flora! crepe de chine, with a fawn coat and hat to tone. Mrs. A. Kidd, honorary treasurer, had on a black ensemble suit and a lemon felt li a t. Dr. Buckley Turkington wore a black ring velvet coat with a black hat. Dr. Margaret Knight was in a navy patterned crepe de chine frock, relieved with rose pink and a hat to match. Miss Carnachan wore a navy tailored costume and a black hat. Miss Alice Bastin was in powder blue ring velvet, with a hat of blue felt. Mrs. Mulgan was wearing a navy ensemble with a hat to tone.

BON VOYAGE TO EX-MAYORESS AND SOCIAL WORKER

NORTHCOTE GATHERING A large number of friends assembled at the residence of Mrs. McLaughlin, “The Pah/’ Clarence Road, Northcote, on Saturday to bid “bon voyage’' to Mrs. William Richardson, who is leaving on an extended trip to England and Scotland this week. Mrs. D. P. O’Leary, on behalf of the Presbyterian Women’s Temperance Union and numerous friends, presented the guest of honour with a travelling cushion and “wanted on the 'voyage” articles, and wished her “bon voyage” and a safe return. In making the presentation, Mrs. O'Leary referred to the good work Mrs. Richardson had done for the borough in the past. Mrs. Richardson suitablv responded. Afternoon tea was then dispensed. During the afternoon Miss May won the competition, and musical items given by Mesdames A. Campbell, Allely, Lear and Harrison. Miss Ruby Gifford acted as accompanist.

OBSTETRICAL APPEAL

ONEHUNGA’S SUCCESS A successful bridge and 500 party, organised by the Mayoress of Onehunga, Miss Morton, and the committee formed to raise funds for the establishment of a chair of obstetrics, was held on Thursday in the Orpheum Theatre, Onehunga. The secretary, Mrs. John Chapman, reported that the campaign had resulted in a liberal response by the residents of Onehunga, and that the amount which the committee set out to collect has been realised, and will probably be exceeded. Among those present were: Mesdames W. J. Jordan, Jenkin, Hunt, Kent. Carter, Dalton, Kay-Stratton, Hammond. Houldswortli, Hankins, Vella, ■Patterson, Hollis. Macßeath, MountJoy, A\ athew, Collins, Hotcliin, Peake, Thompson, Noake, Broadfoot, Cuthbert, Kirk. Fordham, Pascoe, McKendrick Chapman, and Miss Townley. The bridge prizes were won by Mesdames Thompson and Peake, and the 500 trophy was awarded to Mrs. H. Jenkin.
