Miss Alice Toogood, of Vivian Street, Wellington, is visiting Auckland, and is the guest of Mrs. J. Martin Wilson, of Shore Road, Remuera.. * * * Mrs. A. Gray, of Wellington, and Miss Marjorie Gray, who have been in Auckland in connection with the legal conference, left this morning on their return to the South. * * * Mrs. W- G. Kendrick, of Takapuna, left by the Maunganui on Thursday for an extended tour of the East, after which she will visit Europe and Great Britain. * * * Mr. and Mrs. P. Smith, of Waiuku, accompanied by Miss Thelma Smith and Mr. W. J. Lowe, spent the Easter week at Hinemoa House, Hot Springs, Helensville. They will visit Te Aroha and Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, before returning home.

Vice-Regal Reception

Function Preceded by an Investiture PICTURESQUE SCENE Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe held their first official reception at Government House on Wednesday evening, the function being preceded by an investiture, when the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, the AttorneyGeneral, Sir Thomas Sidey, Mr. E, W. Kane and Mr. Robert Parker received the insignia of the honours recently conferred upon them. The ballroom, where the guests assembled for the investiture, presented a picturesque scene, Their Excellencies with tlieir suite and guard of honour occupying the dais. The Governor-General wore the magnificent robe of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, appropriate to the day. After the ceremony, Lord and Lady Bledisloe stood in the drawing room, where glorious chrysanthemums were arranged, and greeted the guests afe thgy were presented. Sqpper was set in the billiards-room, hall and dining room, where the tables were gay with red flowers in silver bowls, tall silver candelabra adding a very charming note. Lady Bledisloe was gowned in graceful printemps green chiffon, veiled in finest silver lace, the deep two-toned green tulle hem falling to the ground. Her Excellency’s jewels were pearls and diamonds, with a large aquamarine drop and a diamond headdress. A fan of white feathers completed her toilette.
