TWELFTH ANNIVERSARY OF FAMOUS RAlD.—Through a hail of shells from every gun that could be brought to bear against them, British seamen and marines stormed the Mole at Zeebrugge on St. George’s Day, 1918—just 12 years ago this week. This official German air photograph, taken the day following the famous raid, shows how completely the blockships Intrepid, I phigenia (in the mouth of the canal) and Thetis (just beyond) effectually prevented further use of Zeebrugge as a submarine base. The Vindictive's attack was delivered on the outside of the Mole, practically opposite tire canal entrance.
