NEW REGENT

“DYNAMITE” Those who need proof that Cecil B. De Mille has returned in "Dynamite” to the spectacular and colourful kind of dramatic material with which lie scored his earlier successes, are referred to the following short resume of this Jeanie MacPherson story. Cynthia Cr others marries Hagon Derk in the death cell of State’s Prison seven hours before the redhaired coal miner was to hang for murder, in order to comply with the terms of her grandfather’s will, which states that she must be married - and living with her husband on her twentythird birthday. Out of this bequest she offered Marcia Towns 100,000 dollars advance alimony if she would divorce her husband, Roger Towne, famous polo star. Town© and Miss Crothers have been constant companions for months. Unfortunately, however, Hagon Derk was freed from the noose ten minutes before his execution. The burly coal miner came to the luxurious home of Cynthia Crothers to claim his bride. The reckless debutante was entertaining members of the city’s most exclusive set. Cynthia, in order to get her money, has to go and live with him. He says she can stay at his home until such a time as she will get the money if she promises to wash and cook and do all that a miner’s wife should do. Cynthia agrees to this, but they quarrel often and finally she decides to leave. Roger comes to get her, and together they go into the coal mine where Derk is working to say goodbye to him. 'While they are there a cave-in occurs a*nd they are trapped. They have a charge of dynamite which would free a passage for them, but no fuses with which to light it. This is not all of the story. The big climax is undisclosed. The sketch, however, gives on of the powerful situations in De Mille’s first picture for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and his first talking picture. The principals are Conrad Nagel. Kay Johnson, Charles Birkford and Julia Faye.
