OLD MAN’S PLIGHT

Found sitting in a doorway at 2 o'clock in the morning with only 6d in his possession, George Benfell, an old man over 70, was arrested. When charged in the Police Court today with being idle and disorderly, accused protested “It’s not true.” A constable, -who took Benfell in oharge, gave it as his opinion that accused was slightly mental. He had no place of abode. Benfell was remanded until May 2, Captain Holmes undertaking to keep him in the Salvation Army Home at Epsom meantime.
