LAUNCH CREW SAFE

HUIA RUNS ASHORE / rom Our Own Correspondent WANGANUI, Today. The launch Huia, which left Wanganui on Sunday morning, and on Tuesday was reported missing, ran ashore at Waitotara. 25 miles from Wanganui, on Monday morning. The crew spent the night at a settler’s house and did not reach the Waitotara Hotel till Tuesday evening, so that no news of their safety could reach Wanganui. The vessel ran ashore early on Sunday morning owing to an error in a compass reading. She is still on the beach, but it is hoped that a favourable tide may float her off.
