Corbett is now chief engineer of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine, at present at Auckland, succeeding Mr. A. White. PORT FAIRY SAILS. —The Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s motor-ship Pore Fairy was dispatched last night for Wellington, where she will complete loading New Zealand produce for London. WAIOTAPU SAILS 5 P.M. —The Union Company announces that its trans-Pacific cargo steamer Waiotapu, now at Queen’s Wharf discharging the local part of her cargo from Pacific Coast ports, is to be dispatched at five o’clock this evening for Wellington, Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney to complete unloading. THE WAlPAHl.—Advice received by the Union Company states that its Island fruit steamer Waipahi arrived at Apia, Samoa, at 9 a.m. on Tuesday from Auckland. The vessel loaded a cargo of fruit there for this port, and was expected to clear Apia at noon today. TOFUA'S MOVEMENTS. —Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that its Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Suva from Auckland at 11 o’clock last night, and she is to sail from there in continuation of her trip round the Islands at 4 p.m. tomorrow,, RADIO FROM MATAROA.— L. D. Nathan, Ltd. has received a wireless message from the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s vessel Mataroa, stating that she expects to reach Wellington from London and Southampton next Wednesday evening. The vessel has passengers for New Zealand and general cargo for discharge at Wellington and Auckland. PORT HOBART COMlNG.—Heather Roberton, Ltd., advises that the Commonwealth and Dominion Line motorship Port Hobart is now at Gisborne loading foi? New York, Boston, Halifax, and London. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel from there tonight for Auckland, whereupon she should arrive here late tomorrow evening, and berth at Queen’s Wharf on Saturday morning to complete her cargo. Efforts will be made to dispatch the Port Hobart from this port on her Homeward voyage, via the Panama Canal, on Tuesday next. LADY LEWIS FROM NAURU.—The steamer Lady Lewis arrived in port from Nauru Island yesterday afternoon, with 7.560 tons of bulk phosphate aboard for discharge at Auckland. The vessel’s last trip was to Melbourne and Port Kembla. On her latest call at Nauru Island she had to wait for three weeks for an anchorage. She left the island on April 11 and experienced fine weather until nearing the New Zealand coast, when fresh easterly winds were encountered. The vessel brought two passengers, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. McGuinness, of the British Phosphates Commission, and also mails from the island. Captain G. Thompson is in command of the Lady Lewis and associated with him are the following officers:—Chief, Mr. J. Morton; chief steward, Mr. A. Roscoe.. CITY OF WINNIPEG AT PRINCE’S. —An arrival at Auckland yesterday afternoon was the Ellerman and Bucknall steamer City of Winnipeg, from New York. The vessel, which is under charter to the A. and A. Line, has a cargo of general Eastern American merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The local portion is being unloaded at Prince’s Wharf to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. The vessel cleared New’ York on March 17. and the Panama Canal on March 28, and enjo3*ed fair weather until nearing New Zealand, when she met with strong easterly winds. Captain E. E. Bulkeley is in command of the City of Winnipeg, and associated with him are the following officers: Chief Mr. T. F. Labev; second, Mr. .T. Bizer’ third. Mr. K. Robinson; chief engineer’ Mr. A. Gall: second. Mr. N. MacPherson; third, Mr. P. Bush; fourth. Mr. J B Anderson: fifth. Mr. J. Chalmers: wireless operator. Mr. J. Fraser; chief steward, Mr. S. Roper. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel p.m on Monday for Napier.
HUNTINGDON FROM HOME. —Th* Federal Line steamer Huntingdon arrived at Auckland last night ..with genera’ cargo from West Coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland. Napier, Lyttelton. Wellington and Dunedin. The New Zealand Shipping Company ; s the local agent. The vessel left Liverpool on March 15, and arrived :\t Curacao on March 29. .. She cleared Balboa on April 1. She experienced a generally fair weather passage, except for two or three small blows, and rough weather off the New Zealand coast. Captain H. G. B.
