MIDNIGHT ALARM

MYSTERIOUS INTRUDER AT MOUNT ALBERT SEARCH PROVES FRUITLESS Thinking that she saw a man creeping across the lawn in front of her home about 12.30 o’clock this morning, Mrs. H. A. Brockett of 77, Mount Albert Road, aroused her neighbours by her screams of fright. Waking from a deep sleep shortly after midnight, Mrs. Brockett heard sounds of somebody walking up the front path. Peering out of the window she stated that she saw a man crossing the lawn as if he were about to enter the house through one of the windows. It was then that she called out and aroused her neighbours. A thorough search of the premises failed to reveal anybody though the police were summoned immediately. Mrs. Brockett’s husband, who is a sea-captain, left Auckland for Australia on his ship about a week ago.
