FREEZING WORKER FINED NOT A SERIOUS CASE Press Association . INVERCARGILL, Today. An unusual case was brought before the magistrate, Mr. E. C. Levvey, this morning. Leslie George Hinton. ■ a single man. aged 26. pleaded guilty ! to a charge of selling liquor at Maka- ■ rewa without a licence. | The evidence showed that defendant ; was employed at the Makarewa Kreez- ; ing Works as a slaughterman and bought beer and whisky and retailed them to the men. He put beer in the whisky bottles and sold them at Is 9d each, and whisky in flasks which he filled three-parts full with whisky and the remainder with water. These ! he sold for 10s. | Senior-Sergeant Fox said that dej fendant was more foolish than crimi inal. ! He was fined £<f. the magistrate remarking that he did not treat the matter so seriously as he might have done since Hinton had been acting at the reauest of his workmates.
