NAVAL MEN MEET
SECOND ANNUAL DINNER There was a good attendance of members at the second annual dinner of the White Ensign Club held at the Tiffin dining-rooms last evening. Commodore Geoffrey Blake, D. 5.0., of H.M.S. Dunedin, who was to have addressed the meeting, was unable to bo present owing to business in Wellington, being represented by Lt.-Com-mander Branson, of H.M.S. Dunedin. Apologies for absence Were received from Commander Nelson Clover, of H.M.S. Philomel, and from Mr. Leyland. Through the death of Mr. Rowley Hill during the year, the club has lost another of its foundation members, the secretary reported. Among those present were Commis-sioned-Gunner H. Taylor (H.M.S. Philomel), LieuL-Colonel T. H. Dawson, Captain Sharp (R.S.A.), Captain Stichbury (King’s Empire Veterans’ Association), Sergeant Major Anderson (Mons Veterans’ Association), Mr. Beaumont (Navy League), and Mr. Jenkins (Legion of Frontiersmen). Items were presented by Messrs. Purcell, Datson, Taylor, Tuttle, McMinns. Lowe and Bickerton.
