GEORGE AND WRIGHTSON IN BOWLS FINAL EASTER FOURS TOURNEY * The final stages of the Auckland Bowling Centre’s Easter fours competition were entered upon this morning. when George’s Epsom rink added to its run of successes by eliminating Dick (Ponsonby) after a spectacular tussle. Dick got well ahead in the early stages, and on the ninth head was 14 to 3in the lead. George’s team settled down to a determined effort to overhaul the Ponsonby side, and succeeded on the twenty-first, when it won an exciting match by 20 points to 18. George’s victory sent him on to contest the final with Wrightson (Carlton), and as he was already a “twolifer,” he will have to be beaten twice in succession by Wrightson this afternoon before he loses the deciding honours. Details of the later rounds are as follow: Fourth Round.—George, 15, v. Milner, 12; Ball. 19, v. J. Dick, 13;’ Russell, 24, v. Thompson, 9; Wrightson, li>, v. Jury, 7: Keatley, 14, v. Roberts, 10; Turner, 17, v. Blickley, 9. Fifth Round.—George, 17, v. Ball, o; J. Dick, 17, v. Milner, 15; Russell, IS, v. Keatley, 11; Wrightson, 20, v. Turner, 10. Sixth Round.—Wrightson, 17, v. Russell, 13; J. Dick, 15, v. Ball, 11; George, a bye. Semi-final.—George, 20; Dick, IS - Wrightson a bye. THIS AFTERNOON’S PLAY Wrightson beat George. 23 to 14, this afternoon. George being a “two-lifer,” Wrightson must play him again. Wrightson's front -division played excellent bowls, and kept George’s team on the defensive. George never led at any part of the game. The second and deciding match between George and Wrightson is being played this afternoon.
