HOSPITAL WANTED
BIRKENHEAD PROPOSAL The suggestion that a public hospital should be erected on the North Shore for the combined district of Birkenhead and Northcote was made by Cr. W. B. Darlow, at the meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening. Cr. Darlow urged that the Northcote Borough Council, and Mr. Hewlett, the North Shore representative on the Auckland Hospital Board, be asked to support the movement. He said that the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board had recently intimated that owing to the congestion at the Public Hospital the time was opportune for country residents to have an institution. action was taken.
